Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle, recognised by his stage name Joe Mettle, is a Ghanaian gospel musician and songwriter. On 8 April 2017, he made history by being the first Ghanaian Gospel musician to win the coveted Artist of the year award at the 2017 Ghana Music Awards. He has won many awards in Ghana and beyond, and has performed on international stages with International Gospel Artistes like Donnie McClurkinNathaniel Bassey, Ntokozo Mbambo, Michael Stuckey and many more. He is married to Selassie Mettle (née Dzisa).

Joe Mettle has established himself as one of Africa’s most celebrated worship leaders. He gained continental recognition after appearing on South African Broadcasting Corporation’s “Gospel Classics” television program alongside international gospel star Donnie McClurkin. His exceptional talent earned him the prestigious Best Male Gospel Artiste in Africa award at the Trumpet Gospel Awards held in South Africa.

Joe Mettle has blessed fans with numerous chart-topping songs that have become staples in Ghana’s gospel scene, including powerful worship anthems like “Mehia wo Yesu” (I Need You Jesus), “Nhyira” (Blessing), and the award-nominated “Ɔnwanwani” (God of Wonders). Other fan favorites in his discography include “Medɔ Wo,” “Akokyem Nyame,” “Mensuro,” “Turning Around,” and the triumphant “Yesu Adi Nkunim” (Christ is Victorious). With six albums released, his music continues to inspire believers across Africa.

In 2007, Joe founded Joe Mettle Ministries, which hosts two major annual events that have become highlights on Ghana’s gospel calendar. The mid-year “Praiz Reloaded” worship experience and the December “Lovegift” charity concert draw thousands of worshippers each year. Beyond his music ministry, Joe manages Reverb Studios in Accra, a full-service music facility offering rehearsal spaces, recording services, equipment rentals, and artist management. Through his multifaceted career, Joe Mettle remains committed to elevating gospel music while mentoring the next generation of African worship leaders.
